It was Rush who struck first to draw the match level on 57 minutes when he rounded Bobby Mimms, and with the Reds growing in confidence and Everton still rocking, Craig Johnson found the net from close range and Liverpool were dominating. The icing on the cake came with only 6 minutes remaining when Ian Rush finished a decisive move that had been crafted by Ronnie Whelan and Jan Molby, and there was no doubt now to which side of Stanley Park the cup was heading.
